Poons and more Cobia
Report Date: July 17, 2005
Holy Hot!
The heat is on here in the Lowcountry folks and the fishing hasn't been bad either. After a nice long wait , the Tarpon and the bait have finally gotten on the same page and seem to be here to stay.
A quick rundown of a few trips from last week:,
This 45lb brownie caught us by suprise the other day when she took a piece of cut bait that was hanging of the back of the boat beside the motor. The only thing was it was on a rod that we were using to catch Spanish Mackerel in the chum slick. Not bad on 12lb test.
Another memorable trip came just the other day with the Will Jones and son his William.
Young William (13 Years Old, started the day off with this 50lb Cobia that took a bottom bait with a vengence. This was one of the most stubborn fish i've seen this year and put up an incredible fight. I must say I was very impressed with William's fish fighting ability.
Not more than thirty minutes later he was back at it with this 70lb pound poon. Great fight from both William and the fish with lots of jumps(from the fish) and lots of sweat(from William). Great job!
