Big Reds, Little Reds.

Report Date: November 6, 2005

Greetings from the lowcountry.
Well, after a long and hot summer it seems that Fall is finally here and here to stay. Water temps have dropped into the mid sixties and have really turned the inshore bite on.

The water has started to clear up nicely and the shrimp are very abundant. The combination of the two has the Reds schooled up on the flats and the sight fishing conditions are perfect. We have had several days with schools of fish actively feeding on shrimp on the flats at low tide and have produced some good numbers.
Andrew Fahee is pictured here with this years typical schoolie Red.

On a different note, the big bulls that come into the sound to spawn on the live bottom and rock areas have been quite elusive in the past weeks. Strong winds from hurricanes and cold fronts kept us out of the big water for the better part of the bull run, but still provided several productive days. Pictured here are Mr. Ed Hardee above and Mr. Arthur Levin below, with two very nice bull Reds. We are planning on having these fish around for a few more weeks and then they will move back offshore.

The next several weeks will provide some of the years best inshore fishing opportunities. As the water temps continue to fall, the fish will school tighter and the bait will become more scarce. The combination will make for some excellent shallow water sight fishing. Come on down and get your piece of the action.
See ya soon.
