Another winter fishing report

Report Date: February 20, 2007

I'll keep this one short and sweet. The Inshore bite has been pretty hot with the Reds despite the really cold water temps. For the past few weeks the temp has been hovering around 50 degrees with several mornings in the mid to upper forties. This has had the fish schooled up tight and the water clear but has also made for some slow bites. Average days are producing 10-12 Reds in the 5-8lb range. The few days we've had with warmer water have definately produced a better bite.

For the most part we are trying to focus on the low tide as much as possible. Once the water gets out of the grass, the fish have been pretty easy to find. Gulp baits have still been the method of choice and will remain until some bait shows in the spring. The upcoming forecast shows some warmer temps which should help to bring up the water temperature resulting in some increased action on the flats.
