Winter Fishing
Report Date: November 10, 2007
Well folks, it seems that the fall has been short lived and we're about to blast straight into winter here in the Lowcountry.
The late summer/fall inshore bite was both hot and strange. With the warmer than normal days, the water temps stayed alot warmer than it normally does and we were catching Tarpon in the sound when we should've been catching Stag Reds.In addition,we had more bait in the river than we had all summer. The stag redfish bite was very spotty but when we finally got em narrowed down, the "hurtin' was a put". Good days saw catches well into the double digits with most fish in the 23-30lb range.
Well as winter blows upon us, the water temps will drop and the Reds and Trout will begin to bunch up. They have been hitting pretty good to this point but it will only continue to get better. Winter is my favorite time to fish here in the lowcountry so grab your stuff, get out the office, and get down here for some excellant winter sight fishing.
