Winter report
Report Date: January 24, 2008
Well, winter conditions are upon us and everything seems to be on par. With water temps hovering in the low 50's, the water on the flats is nice and clear and the Reds are schooled up nicely.
Typical for this time of year, most fish are in the 5-9lb range with a few pigs mixed in and they've been hitting artificials with a vengence. I'm still sticking religiously to the Gulp! line of baits and i've been having great success.
Last week I took some of my cohorts from the prestigious Cherokee Plantation out for a well need fishing break and we put the smack on em'
While Huntmaster Mike couln't quite keep up with the rest of us He still managed to land nearly a dozen nice reds. Duncan and I followed up with at least that many of our own and then some. All fish were cought on the Chartreuse swim bait and the crab. The key to fishing these baits this time of year is presentation. Slow and suttle....
The trout have gone deep for the most part due to the low water temps. We'll see them again in a few months. I'm already thinkng about Cobia......Come on May.
