Spring action on the flatsReport Date: March 29, 2009Greetings....Let's talk about the inshore bite. The reds have been doing really well on the flats and are definately still in the winter patterns and schooled up nicely like they should be. I've been shooting for mid-morning low tides so we could have as much sight fishing as possible but, we've also been doing really well with the fish up in the grass on the higher tide. For the most part i'm still fishing artificials and using live bait when we fish the higher stages of the tide. The winter conditions should hold for a few more weeks until the water temps rise up into the upper sixties and then the fish should start to break up into smaller groups. A couple of trips lately i've come across some good trout bites on mudminnows. I've been hitting some secret trees up in the creeks on the slack tide and pullin out some nice ones. the bite is slow so patients is key. I hoping with the warmer water in the next few weeks the trout action will turn on for good. Everybody should know that Cobia season is not far off and we're hoping for another banner year. The Wadell Mariculture Center has been pouring those babies out by the truckload for the past few years and now it's time to catch'em. So come on now and let's go fishing!
