Spring Redfish and Broad River Cobia

Report Date: May 1, 2010

Just wanted to give a quick update on the current fishing trends down here in the Lowcountry....Cobia are here. We have had several days with some excellant conditions that allowed for good sight fishing and we took full advantage of it! The first days produced five nice fish on the surface and the next produced two nice fish, all on live eels and artificials. The rest of my cobia trips have been all bottom fishing but have still provided some good action.

On the flats the reds have been hit or miss. The spring time down here will definatley test your abilities. It can be red hot one day and dead as a hammer the next....that being said, they have been producing good numbers the majority of the time. Now that plenty of baitfish have showed up, Cut mullet and live finger mullet seem to be ticket to get the big ones to eat. Hopefully in the next few weeks the Trout will start to show in good numbers and we look forward to a good summer season to come.

Things are just starting to kick off down here in the beautiful Lowcountry!!!
